We here at the Fédération de l’Âge d’or du Québec région Gaspésie – Îles-de-la-Madeleine were truly sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Michael Clarke.

It is with great sadness that I express my condolences to Mr. Mike Clarke's family and loved ones. Please know that he has touched the lives of many during his years as an educator and is remembered fondly. My career at ESSB began during an interview with Mike and he continued on as a mentor and eventually signed off on my provincial accreditation. He was wise, and funny, and we will all surely miss him. On another note, I can say that my parents also appreciated he and Linda's company during their own stay in Rimouski. I believe many card games and laughs were shared.

It is with heavy hearts and many fond memories that we offer our sincerest sympathy to Linda, Jason and Gracie and their families. Mike is an irreplaceable person, both in our community and our school system. We can only imagine the void you will feel by his absence. He will be remembered always with respect and affection as educator, farmer, lover of the waters, storyteller, inspiration and friend.

It is with great sadness that we learn of Michael's death. Michael attended school with us in the early 70's at Gaspe High School. He was so much fun and we will never forget our school days together. Then when we were teachers at Eastern Shores School Board we saw him regularly at workshops, conventions and when he visited our school(Gaspe Polyvalent). He was always willing to take time to chat and showed genuine interest and care for the students and their futures. We will miss him. May he rest peacefully.

I am saddened by this news. His visits to our school during my career will always be treasured as well as all the exchanges we had whenever we went to the board office in New Carlisle. He was a genuine human being who cared deeply about education. Safe travels my friend. You will be missed tremendously!

It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Mr. Clarke. I always enjoyed being in his presence, even if he was questioning me. He was not shy to play devil’s advocate but at the end of the day I knew I had his support. He was a great influence to me in my career. He will be missed. My deepest sympathies to Linda and family.
